Who we are
School Holiday Map is operated by Christopher Pentland in a personal capacity. Christopher Pentland is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the site. School Holiday Map provides an interactive view of confirmed school-holiday information across selected European countries. For privacy queries, contact [email protected].
What information we process
The v1 website does not require visitors to create an account, submit a name, or provide an email address. The site infrastructure may process ordinary technical request information needed to deliver and secure the service, such as IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or user-agent information and security/logging information. Cloudflare and Render may process such technical data as infrastructure providers.
Website analytics
The v1 analytics service is Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is used to understand aggregate website usage and performance, such as page views and how the site performs for visitors. Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as privacy-first and states that it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data.
Cookies and advertising
At v1 launch, School Holiday Map does not intentionally use advertising cookies or personalised-advertising technology. Google AdSense and other advertising are not active at launch. If advertising or other non-essential cookie or tracking technology is introduced, this notice and the site’s consent controls will be updated before that processing begins.
Why we process information
Technical request and security information is processed so that we can provide the website, maintain security, diagnose faults and protect the service from misuse. Where personal data is processed for those purposes, the intended lawful basis is legitimate interests in operating and securing the website, subject to the usual balancing requirements.
Who information may be shared with
Technical website data may be processed by service providers used to operate the site, currently including Cloudflare for DNS, CDN/security and Web Analytics, and Render for application hosting. We do not sell visitor personal data.
International transfers
Cloudflare and Render are international technology providers and may process data in countries outside the UK. Their contractual and technical safeguards govern those transfers. We will review this notice if the production supplier configuration changes.
How long information is kept
School Holiday Map does not currently maintain its own visitor account or profile database. Infrastructure logs and analytics data are retained according to the applicable Cloudflare and Render service settings and retention periods. We keep those settings under review and aim not to retain data longer than needed for service operation, security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
Where UK data-protection law applies and personal data is processed, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and complaint. Rights depend on the circumstances and the legal basis for processing. Contact [email protected] if you wish to exercise a data-protection right relating to School Holiday Map.
Complaints
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how personal data has been handled.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when the website’s data-processing activities materially change. In particular, advertising, additional analytics, user accounts, saved trips, contact forms or other interactive services will trigger a privacy review before activation.
